Linda Colley Awarded Honorary Degree from the University of Oxford

SCAS Non-resident Long-term Fellow Linda Colley was one of six recipients of honorary degrees
at the University of Oxford's recent Encaenia ceremony. She received her honorary degree alongside
Professor Dame Sally Davies, Professor Anna Deavere Smith, Baroness Ruth Lister, Former United
States First Lady and Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and author Jeanette Winterson. The
ceremony had been delayed because of the Covid pandemic.

Linda Colley is Shelby M.C. Davis 1958 Professor of History at Princeton University and a Non-
resident Long-term Fellow for Programmes in Early Modern and Modern History at SCAS. She was
in residence at the Collegium in the academic year 2017-18.
